The heart of a community is often found in the people who dedicate their lives to serving it. For years, Dave Jasso was one of those people. As the owner and operator of Cantonment Ace, alongside his wife Amy, Dave built more than a business. He built a trusted gathering place rooted in generosity, compassion, and genuine connection.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Dave carried his commitment to service far beyond his military years. He was deeply involved in supporting organizations that uplifted children, families, and neighbors in need. From Shriners Hospitals for Children to local high school athletics, Dave never hesitated to give his time, resources, and heart to help others thrive.

In 2020, Dave was diagnosed with Stage IV ALK-positive lung cancer, a rare type of cancer with no known cause and no known cure. Even after his diagnosis, Dave continued to go to work, staying focused on supporting his family business and serving the Pensacola and Cantonment communities.

In 2023, Dave passed away, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, compassion, and service to others. Dave won his battle against cancer by the way he lived his life every day.

He was really a mentor to me, more than anything. Almost like a father figure. Elijah, Ace Employee

To continue his legacy and help others who are diagnosed with ALK-positive lung cancer, the Jasso family created the Dave Jasso Foundation. In partnership with ALK Positive, Inc., the foundation raises funds to support research and bring hope to families affected by ALK-positive lung cancer. At the same time, the foundation keeps Dave's legacy alive by continuing the same spirit of generosity and service he showed every day.

The foundation's signature event is an annual barbecue fundraiser that brings the community together, not only to honor Dave, but also to build awareness for this rare disease. This small but mighty organization has raised over $90,000 in just a few years.

His impact was felt widely, and it still is, thanks to the loving support of his family, the Ace team, and the community that continues to carry his spirit forward.
