The Woodbury Food Bank is a vital lifeline for families in need. As an organization that is dependent on volunteers and donations from the local community, the food bank desperately needed support to help repair and maintain its facilities. The teams at Ace Hardware of Woodbury, Connecticut, and Ace Handyman Services of Northwestern CT stepped up to the challenge.

"One thing that you would not notice on a drive through Woodbury is that there are a lot of folks in need," said Bob Taylor, Community Services Council of Woodbury President. "The Woodbury Food Bank is here to make sure that none of our neighbors need to worry about whether they get three good meals a day and that they have proper nutrition for their kids. If we did not receive the kind of support that we see from our friends at Ace, we would not be able to provide our services."

During any given week, the food bank will see more than 80 families. More than 135 families visit the food bank on a regular basis. With that kind of traffic through the facility, quite a bit of routine maintenance is needed. The Ace team helps by providing renovation work and upgrades to the facilities including electrical repairs, lighting, and organization racks for the food bins.

"It's important for the food bank to be maintained to provide a dignified shopping experience for the families in need," said Christine Collins, Ace Hardware of Woodbury General Manager.

"Everybody deserves to be treated with respect. I think it's important that when they go in there, they can be served in an environment that's clean, orderly, and as normal of a shopping experience as possible."

Ace Handyman Services of Northwestern CT helped with repairing light fixtures, installing ceiling tiles, and assembling organization racks for the food bank.

"It feels great to be able to give back to the community," said Griffin Wolf, Ace Handyman Services of Northwestern CT Owner. "It gives back 10-fold in the kind of response we get from the town and how thankful people are for the things we do."

"Ace of Woodbury is a wonderful partner in our mission," said Bob. "They support the whole idea of compassion in our community, and they make it happen with their work, their service, and their donations. We are so thankful for our partnership with them."
