Garden hoses come in a range of different options to suit every home and garden. Whether you've got a small or large garden, we have a wide selection of water hoses to choose from, including coil and flexible hoses.
Coil vs. Flexible Hoses
When it comes to purchasing a garden hose, you may be surprised to learn there are many different types on the market to pick from and all serve specific purposes. Hoses are traditionally made of rubber, rubber hybrids, vinyl or polyurethane. They coil to make for easier storage and can be uncoiled for extension when watering a garden.
Coil Hoses
When choosing a coiled hose, consider the materials used to make it. Polyurethane and rubber hybrids tend to weigh less and be more kink-resistant. Vinyl hoses can be difficult to maneuver as they're heavier and have a strong coil memory making them susceptible to kinking.
Flexible Hoses
Flexible hoses are a newer version available on the market. They have a thin, flexible lining inside a woven, fiber jacket. They do not have any coil memory making them less likely to kink. Flexible hoses are also easy to store since they collapse when the water is turned off.
What to Consider When Choosing a Garden Hose
We carry a selection of garden hoses to suit any home or garden setup. Consider the following factors when making your decision:
Flexibility: Many hoses will kink so be sure to select one that can wrap around a hose reel easily and roll or unroll without twisting.
Durability: Heavy-duty hoses have the strength to withstand frequent use and harsh conditions with crush-proof construction.
Hose diameter: The diameter of the hose will affect how much water pumps through it, which influences the pressure and weight of the hose.
Drinking water: If any people or animals intend on drinking from the hose, it is important to get one that's approved by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). You'll also need an approved hose if you wish to fill a swimming pool or connect it to an RV.
Material: Polyurethane and hybrids are more kink-resistant, for the most part. They are also lighter in weight. Hoses made from vinyl are cheaper in cost but heavier and tend to kink more.
Length: Factor in how far you need the hose to stretch in order for the water reach the right area.
Once you find the hose for you, add on nozzles and wands to help you control the way the water flows.
