About Grass Hooks, Shears, Whips
With the right lawn tools on hand you can win the battle over tall, stubborn grass and weeds – even in difficult-to-reach areas. Overgrown grass can be a challenge for many residential lawn mowers, but is no match for grass whips. Grass whips are long-handled L-shaped tools with a horizontal serrated blade at the bottom to grab and cut long grass, weeds and brush in one sweeping motion.
Once down to a manageable height, the grass is ready to mow. If the area you’re looking to clear is layered with more stubborn grass or thick weeds, machetes can be used to apply a sharper, more controlled cut. And while grass whips and machetes are useful in addressing larger areas of unwanted growth, sometimes the grass you need to address grows snugly against your favorite trees and bushes.
A sharp set of grass shears will help you carefully remove this grass without damaging your bushes and trees. For help determining which lawn tools will serve your needs best, check out our cutting tools guide.
