About This Store
One of the first three businesses to open in Guymon in 1900 and originally founded by E.T. Guymon as the Star Lumber Company, it has grown from the 576 square foot building that burnt down in the 1920's to the 12,000 square foot showroom with the lumber yard and buildings filling an entire square block, with additional storage across the street, that is Wirtz Lumber today. Upon entering the doors, you will find something that today's big chain store don't offer - personal, friendly service of an era gone by and a sense of the history of the store. From old fashioned popcorn machine dispensing popcorn for the customers to nibble on as they shop to a color match paint computer making that hard to match paint color as easy as running your microwave oven are just a few of the services that Wirtz Lumber offers their customers. And now the third generation, Larry and Shelley Wirtz are ready to carry their store into the future.
